I've always loved designing characters. No matter if they're cool, smart, cute, silly or something entirely different. It's all about staying diverse after all!
The concept art is where it all begins. No matter the medium, the first few sketches can define the soul of your project and I'm up for that challenge!
As someone who grew up with Super Mario and the likes, the pixel aesthetic holds a special place in my heart. And with some dedication and love, it can still look just as good as modern graphics!
Atlas
Year: 2017
Genre: Shoot Em Up/Tower Defense
Game: Atlas is an arcade-like mixture of 2D-shooters and strategy elements. You take control of a weaponized turtle, which you have to defend by any means, as it doubles as your home. You shoot enemies, repair your ship and fire powerful super-weapons. Many features, such as boss battles and weapon upgrades, are still to come.
Development: First conceived at a game jam, Atlas was made in just 72 hours. But we decided to develop it further, as we really liked the concept of it. I'm responsible for most 2D work, characters as well as environment.

Blade Buddies - WIP
Year: TBA
Genre: Turn Based Strategy/Role Playing
Game: This game is still early in developement, but it's meant to be a new, more character-driven take on the Strategy RPG genre. It's gonna feature a unique class- and skill-system, humerous dialogue and a non-tile-based battle system.
Development: This is the first game I'm independently developing, following my b.A. degree in 2016 and is developed by me and several of my fellow graduates. At this point, I'm the projects main 2D artist. As such, I'm tasked with creating all the concept art, 2D character sprites and animations, characters and backgrounds for the dialogues, as well as various other things.

Brass Tale
Year: 2016
Genre: Role Playing
Game: In Brass Tale, the player takes control of a private investigator in a fantasy world and is tasked with the pursuit of a wanted criminal. Flower, the hero of this short story, has to battle her way through strange enemies in a unique way: The player builds a card deck containing offensive and defensive abilities which they can then use strategically in the turn-based combat system.
Development: The game was developed as a part of my team's bachelor theses in 2016. It was developed with a strong focus on the theoretical theses' topics, mine being the evolution of pixel art. That means I was responsible for most artwork, including but not limited to concept art, environmental assets, character sprites and animations. I also did the game's sound design and helped conceptualizing the groundwork of the combat system.

Heimatlos
Year: 2016
Genre: Serious Game/Adventure
Game: Heimatlos tells the story of two siblings who are forced to flee from their suddenly wartorn home. The player controls them as they sneak past deadly hazards and makes some important decisions along the way, altering the way the story unfolds. He does so in a classic point-n'-click manner.
Development: Developed as part of a class on Serious Games, Heimatlos was put together in a very short time. My main job in it was the creation of the different scenes for the opening and ending sequences, told by black-and-white stills. Apart from the 2D artworks, I was tasked with the sound design, including voicework this time around.

Threads
Year: 2015
Genre: Action/Multiplayer
Game: Threads is the prototype of a team-based multiplayer game in which players take control of spiders and set out to battle each other in teams of three. The players can build their own routes by building spiderwebs, allowing for a fresh approach every round.
Development: This was the first video game I had a part in developing. Due to it's short production time and the team's lacking experience at the time, the game sadly isn't very fleshed out. But I could gather a lot of experience by working on concept art, sound design and game design on this project.

Banana Bingo

The 3-5 contestants each pick a differently colored monkey and race to the top of the map, where the most of the treasured fruit resides. On their way, the players can attack each other with whacky action cards.
Development: The first game I developed from start to finish was this simple board game. I did everything solo - from the rules to the board design to the cards.
